Silver Wedding. Another of those social and friendly presentations, for which Winona has become famous, took place on Wednesday evening, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Foot. A number of their friends, aware of the fact that it was the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding, assembled at their residence and after a little social intercourse, presented them with a very rich silver service of six pieces and a coffee urn. The gift is a very elegant one, and the whole affair was one which will long be remembered with pleasure by those who were present. Mr. H. D. Morse, on behalf of the (unknown word), made a brief presentation speech, which elicited a brief and grateful response from Mr. Foot. Congratulations ensued, and at a reasonable hour the happy party broke up. (The Winona Republican, Thursday, December 29, 1870, Page 3)

A New Lightning Rod. The inventive genius, for which Winona is noted, has displayed itself in another new lightning rod – the production of our fellow-townsmen Messrs. D. A. Foot and G. S. Knapp, for which they secured a patent March 28th, six weeks after work on the rod was first commenced. (The Winona Republican, Monday, April 3, 1871, Page 3)
