Page 13. Gilbert Johnson, an early settler of Dresbach, died Wednesday, Oct. 5 (1921), at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Baker, with whom he has made his home for the past twelve years. Mr. Johnson was eighty-nine years of age, his birth occurring near Haversbrau, N. Y., March 11, 1832. He was married in 1854 to Miss Frances Finch and a few years later they moved to La Crosse where they lived until after the Civil War, coming to Dresbach in the late sixties. Mr. Johnson and a brother-in-law, William Sherwood, started the brick manufacturing business in Dresbach soon after his arrival here and continued the occupation for a period of about thirty years. In their declining years Mr. and Mrs. Johnson sold their home and resided with their niece, Mrs. D. H. Baker, where Mrs. Johnson died in 1910. Mr. Johnson has been ailing for many years and has been in bed almost constantly the past several months. The deceased was a member of the
