Charles Johan Frederick Zimmerman was born in June 1853 in Sweden. He arrived in the United States in 1872, at the age of 19. He was married to Matilda around 1875.

The 1880 United States census showed Fred Zimmerman (age 26, born in Sweden, farmer) married to Mathilda (age 29, born in Sweden) and living Albion Township, Wright County, Minnesota. Children Edward (age 3, born in Minnesota) and Charles (age 2, born in Minnesota) also lived with the couple.

The 1885 Minnesota census showed Fred Zimmerman (age 31, born in Sweden) married to Matilda (age 35, born in Sweden) and living in Waverly, Minnesota. Children Edward (age 8, born in Minnesota), Charles (age 6, born in Minnesota), and Joseph (age 2, born in Minnesota) also lived with the couple.

The 1895 Minnesota census showed Charles Zimmerman (age 41, born in Sweden, brick maker) married to Matilda (age 37, born in Sweden) and living in Corinna Township, Wright County, Minnesota. Children Edward R. (age 18, born in Minnesota), Charles (age 16, born in Minnesota), and Josie (age 13, born in Minnesota) also lived with the couple. Christine Zimmerman (age 68, born in Sweden) also lived with the family.

The 1900 United States census showed Charles F. Zimmerman (age 46, born in June 1853 in Sweden, brick maker) married to Matilda (age 52, born in May 1848 in Sweden) and living in Corinna Township, Wright County, Minnesota. Children Edward (age 23, born in December 1876 in Minnesota), Charles J. (age 21, born in February 1879 in Minnesota), and Josephina (age 19, born in May 1882 in Minnesota) also lived with the couple.

Mr. (Frank W.) Enghauser was married December 30, 1903, to Josephine E. Zimmerman, daughter of Frederick and Matilda (Nelson) Zimmerman. She was born May 16, 1882, the youngest of a family of three, and was educated in the Annandale schools. Mr. and Mrs. Enghauser have two children. Paul was born June 6, 1908. C. F. Zimmerman has announced his intention to run for the office of commissioner of the First district. Mr. Zimmerman is well known throughout the county. He is the proprietor of the brick works just east of town and has been a resident of this section for many years. He will certainly make a strong fight for the place and a trusty officer if elected. A son, Charles (age 25, born in Minnesota, brick maker), also lived with the couple. Another son, Edwin (age 27, born in Minnesota, brick maker), his wife Helen (age 23, born in Minnesota), and his son Edwin Jr. (age 1 month, born in Minnesota) also lived with the couple.

The 1910 United States census showed Carl F. Zimmerman (age 56, born in Sweden, farmer) married to Matilda (age 61, born in Sweden) and living in Corinna Township, Wright County, Minnesota. A son, Charlie (age 31, born in Minnesota, laborer home farm), also lived with the couple. Another son, Edwin R. (age 33, born in Minnesota, brick maker), his wife Helen (age 28, born in Minnesota), his son Willard E. (age 4, born in Minnesota), and his daughter Fern A. (age 2, born in Minnesota) also lived with the couple.

The 1920 United States census showed Charles Zimmerman (age 66, born in Sweden) married to Matilda (age 71, born in Sweden) and living in Buffalo, Minnesota. A son, Charles J. (age 40, born in Minnesota), also lived with the couple.

Former Resident Called Beyond. Charles F. Zimmerman, 73 years, passed away Sunday, February 20 (1927) at his daughter’s residence, Minneapolis. He is survived by the widow, three children, Edward, Charles and Mrs. S. O. Nelson, all of Minneapolis, and one brother, Oscar F. of Faribault. The funeral service was held February 22 at the daughter’s home. Mr. Zimmerman was a resident of this vicinity some years ago. (Unknown newspaper, February 24, 1927)
