The new hotel in Arlington, owned by A. L. Heard, will be completed in a few weeks.  It will be called the “Summer House,” in honor of Hon. Charles Summer.  We believe that Mr. White, who is “every inch” a land lord, is to take charge of the house.  Mr. Heard informs us that he is to have a brick yard in operation immediately, and also that a number of new houses will be erected.  When the “Summer House” is completed, the proprietor intends to have it dedicated in an appropriate manner.  (Henderson Democrat, Thursday, July 9, 1857, Courtesy of Dwight Grabitske, Arlington Historical Society)
