The new city of Arlington is now laid out, and ready for parties to build on, and those wishing to buy lots, now is the time, as the demand for Arlington property is hourly increasing.  The new town is laid out on Capt. Klinkert’s land, and there are several new buildings in course of construction, and as soon as John Meier can get his brick burned, then you may look out for some large brick buildings.  Arlington, without a doubt, is the best location for a town in Sibley county.  It is convenient to timber and has every facility necessary for comfort and convenience.  It needs a first-class hotel, and it would be a splendid opportunity for a live hotel-keeper to make a fortune in a few years.  Arlington has been for years the best trading point in Sibley county.  It is in fact the banner town of the county.  Land in Arlington has always been worth $5 an acre more than that in any other town in the county.  Capt. Klinkert is now ready to sell any number of lots for any amount of money, and give any length of time to pay for them, to any number of persons who feel like investing in the City of Arlington.  They expect the first train about September 5th, 1881.  (Sibley County Independent, Friday, August 12, 1881, Courtesy of Dwight Grabitske, Arlington Historical Society)

August 30, 1881.  Hot!  92 in the shade last Friday.  John Meier has just finished burning his first kiln of brick, which turns out to be of a No. 1 quality.  He had the brick all sold before they were done, and has orders ahead for several hundred thousand more.  (Sibley County Independent, Friday, September 2, 1881, Courtesy of Dwight Grabitske, Arlington Historical Society)
