Preston. An incorporated village of 1,000 souls, in the center of Fillmore county, and the seat thereof. Isinours, a station of the S. M. Ry., is 3 miles distant. The south branch of the Root river here affords sufficient power to drive 30 run of mill stone, and the power is partially utilized by 2 flouring mills, one having 8 run of stone, and a woolen factory. Exports, flour, etc. Contains a church each of Presbyterians, Methodists, German Methodists and Lutherans, and a graded school which employs 5 teachers. Independent telegraph line. Express, American.
